Chapter 9 - Arabella

Arabella's blood turned to ice. She felt a chill run down her spine and was overcome with an urge to run away from the room, jump out the window..anything to get away from him. What was he doing here? How did he get in this room? Arabella looked out into the hallway then back into the room. Her eyes landed on Hunter and the fist around her heart unclenched a little, a sigh of relief. He was awake, he was going to be okay. She narrowed her eyes on Chad, trying to make herself look tougher than she actually felt. He wasn't going to push her around anymore.

"What are you doing here?" Arabella asked in a cold voice, her words shaking a little bit. Chad stood up and walked towards her, but she recoiled

"I was just-" Chad started but Arabella didn't want to hear it. She promised herself that she was going to look after Hunter and make sure that he was okay, protect him. Having Chad in this room was not protecting him.

"Get out" Arabella interrupted, pointing at the door, her voice full of hate. This guy in front of her had done so much to her, put her through so much. She would rather be fighting monsters than dealing with this guy. He terrified her and made her so mad. The worst part of seeing him? She could look into his golden eyes and remember times when he made her so happy, when she loved him. The memories of happy times with him made her stomach flutter.

"Arabella, can we talk? Please?" Chad said to her, taking another step towards her. Arabella turned her eyes away from him and she shook her head furiously. There was no way that she was going to talk to him. She looked at Hunter sitting in his bed with a confused look on his face. Arabella turned to look at Chad again, looking into his golden eyes. He really did look like he was Apollo's son. He looked like the sun; with golden hair and golden eyes and tanned skin. Chad knew so much about Arabella and that scared her. He knew her weak points "Come on..I just want to talk to you. That's not going to hurt anyone, is it?" he said to her.

Arabella took a deep breath and slowly, she nodded "Fine. Talk" she said, folding her arms across her chest. Chad took a step towards her and put a hand on her arm. She immediately pushed it off. Chad looked down at the ground with hurt eyes, filled with guilt and Arabella felt her anger melt away. Maybe he was actually sorry this time.

"What I did to you wasn't right and I am so sorry. I live with that guilt everyday and it kills me" Chad said to her, looking into her eyes "I know that I don't deserve your forgiveness., but you need to know that I am so very sorry. Please say that you can forgive me?"

Arabella took a deep breath, thinking of everything that he just said to her. She was having an inner war with herself. Part of her knew that this was just another speech. He was going to beg for her to forgive him and when she let him in again, he was just going to hurt her all over again. The other part, however, was convinced that he was really sorry this time and that it wouldn't hurt her to forgive him.

"I'm going to need some time" Arabella said eventually and Chad nodded in an understanding kind of way. As he was walking out of the door, her passed her a little piece of paper on it. She glanced down and saw his cell phone number. Without thinking, she slipped it into her pocket. Once he was gone, Arabella wiped her eyes and looked at Hunter again. She put a smile on her face, kind of hoping that he didn't hear what had just happened. Arabella pulled her hair into a messy bun and moved back to her seat by his bed.

"How are you feeling, Hunter?" Arabella said in a soft voice, putting her hands in her lap "Are you okay? Can I get you something? Coffee? Tea? I think they have Jell-O.."
