Chapter 25 - Arabella

Arabella giggled, running towards the water with Hunter. She had his hand in hers and it was warm, comforting. It was a beautiful summer day, just warm enough for swimming and things but it wasn't too hot or sticky. Arabella didn't let go of Hunter's hand until they hit the water. She laughed as a huge wave hit her and she looked back at Hunter, who was now wet. When another wave rolled in, Arabella turned so her back was to it and fell into the water, going under completely. She resurfaced and saw Hunter, who was watching her with a faint smile on his face.

Arabella let out a sigh and stood up "Hunter, are you going to have fun, or not?" Arabella asked him, putting her hands on her hips. Hunter shrugged at her and Arabella smirked at him. He gave her a cautious look when he saw the smirk on her face

"Arabella..what are you do-" Hunter started to ask her but he was cut off when she ran and tackled him again. Arabella laughed as they fell into the water. They weren't very deep, so they could sit up but the water would still be up to Hunter's chest and Arabella's neck. Arabella giggled as Hunter sat up, sputtering. Without planning on it, Arabella somehow managed to be sitting on Hunter's lap. She ran her hands over his wet hair, fixing it. Arabella didn't even notice Hunter's cheeks redden.

"That-that's not very nice" Hunter said quietly, searching for words to try and make it seem like he wasn't feeling so awkward. Arabella laughed and patted his cheek before standing up.

"Fine. You may go inside. but before this weekend if over, you and I are going to have fun together" Arabella warned him. She folded her arms across her chest and marched out of the water, towards the house. Hunter let out a little sigh and rolled his eyes before following Arabella out of the water and into the house. Arabella walked towards the stairs and looked at Hunter "I am going for a shower, because I smell like salt. Then maybe we can eat something and talk about the house" she said with a shrug and walked up the stairs to her bedroom. Arabella picked out a pair of shorts and a bandeau top, planning on getting a tan once she was done in the shower.

She slipped into the shower, peeling her wet bikini off of her. Arabella turned on the warm water and she closed her eyes ad she washed her long hair, trying to get all of the sand off of her scalp. As she showered, she thought about Hunter. Arabella tried not to, but he kept sneaking his way into her thoughts. Arabella hoped that after this weekend, he would stay with her without much of a fight. She didn't need him to pay her back. Arabella just wanted to keep him with her. After about 15 minutes, Arabella stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around herself. Quickly, she pulled on her clothes and left the bathroom, twisting her hair into a bun. Arabella walked down the stairs and saw that Hunter had gotten dressed and had his head in the fridge.

"What are you looking for?" Arabella asked him, putting her hands in her pockets. Hunter turned around and looked at her. Arabella wished that she could read his mind then because the moment he looked at her, he seemed to get a little flustered. Arabella didn't even think that it had something to do with her bare stomach.

"I was, uh, I was looking for something for you to eat" Hunter told her, running his hand over his hair.

"Oh...well..let's just get a bag of chips or something" Arabella said with a shrug and grabbed a bad of regular chips, putting them in a bowl. She got a glass out of the cupboard, put a couple ice cubes in it with a splash of rum and filled up the glass with Coca Cola "Help yourself to everything that I bought. I have lots of Vitamin Water and pop and juice. I don't know if you drink much alcohol now" Arabella said. She grabbed her tanning lotion and sunglasses before stepping outside. Hunter followed her, picking out a bottle of plain water. They sat together in the sun, Arabella taking little sips of her drink every once in a while

"So, what do you think we need to do to the house?" Arabella asked him, turning over to get sun on her back.

"The floor needs to be sanded and we need to get a lot of paint. The stairs need to have some boards replaced" Hunter told her "The outside of the house needs a lot of work. I'm gonna have to go to a store to pick up supplies" he added, looking over at her. Arabella looked up at him and nodded. She sat up and started picking up her things "Okay, you go wait in the car, I'll get my keys and meet you out there. We might as well go now, it's about 45 minutes" she told him.

Arabella got her keys and her wallet. She grabbed a small cardigan to throw over her top and she walked out to the car. Hunter was already sitting the passenger side seat. Arabella sat down and started the car. They drove towards the store, talking about the house on the way there. Arabella asked Hunter a few questions about the work that needed to be done because she had no clue what she was doing. The drive seemed to go fast though.

Soon enough, they were at the hardware store. Arabella got out and walked in with Hunter. She had never really gone shopping in a hardware store before, so she just followed Hunter. As they walked though the store, Arabella looked around in amazement at everything. It all looked like so much fun. Giggling, she picked up a roll of hot pink duct tape and held it up with a grin on her face "Let's just tape everything in hot pink. I'm sure my dad will just love the house once we're done" she teased.

Hunter let out a little chuckle and shook his head "Um, no" he said and grabbed a few tools and things that they would need. Arabella looked around the store, trying to find things that she could play with. Her eyes landed on the gardening section and she pulled Hunter towards it. It was a separate building almost, like a green house area and it was filled with plants and had a couple hoses laying around. There was a pond in the middle with a couple little turtles in it. Arabella grabbed a couple plants and she put them into their cart. Hunter followed her, going along with whatever she grabbed. But then she ran away from him, giggling. Arabella ran around to the row of plants over and she picked up a hose.

"Say 'hello' to my little friend!" Arabella said in her best Scarface voice. Hunter backed up a little bit and put his hands up

"Arabella..if you do that I swear-" He started but he was cut off by her spraying the water at him. Arabella laughed, the hose was only on mist but she thought it was still pretty funny to see Hunter trying to turn his face away from the water. She turned it off, because he looked angry but his face broke into a small smile and he grabbed the hose from her, spraying her with the water. Arabella squealed and tried to grab the hose back from him but he was too tall and he was holding it out of reach

"Hunter!" She laughed, smacking his chest and trying to reach for the hose. Just then, some lady walked past, rolling her eyes at them and Hunter turned off the water. Arabella looked up at him and giggled "Let's just get the rest of the stuff and go" she said  and together, they walked back into the rest of the store. They grabbed everything that they needed and Arabella paid for it all. She let Hunter carry everything to the car, since he insisted for some reason. Arabella slid into the car and soon enough, they were back on the road, headed home.
